We still need lots of volunteers to help make the Fair happen on Friday. At the moment we only have one third of the volunteers we need. Signing up is as easy as clicking on the link below and choosing your time. If you cannot manage an hour, find a friend and sign up together. If each family can volunteer for one of these empty spaces, we can run all the exciting activities planned.

Last week we supported the Drysdale community’s commemoration of Remembrance Day. On Friday our four School Captains, Stella, Curtis, Madi and Alex attended the Drysdale Grove Aged Care to join with residents in their commemoration. Our Captains read the poems “In Flanders Field” and “Not In Vain”. Our Captains represented the school with their customary distinction. It has been an enormous pleasure to work with them during the year and observe their personal development.

Payment plans are a great way to ensure that you never miss a deadline for camp, swimming or excursion payments. I signed up for a payment plan to cover costs at my daughter’s school which has been one of my best decisions. I would strongly encourage everyone to consider this for 2019. Over the next couple of weeks we will be able to provide information to parents about financial arrangements for next year. We work hard to provide more detail about the charge for Essential Educational Items as well as information about other costs e.g. camp, swimming and excursions. We will also be providing details of our payment plan system. Our aim for 2019 is to provide information about all known costs together with a fortnightly amount which will cover the full amount.

On Monday 12th November we presented a cheque for $555.70 to Judi Greenslade who is a representative of Down Syndrome Victoria. Judi works with our students who are transitioning into Prep or Year 7.
Our generous Junior School Council students decided that DSV was their fundraiser of choice for our Term 2 casual dress day. Judi was overwhelmed with the support and inclusion demonstrated by our students and their families so we thank you for supporting this cause. Thanks also to Jessie, Adam, Lily and Emma who made the presentation at assembly.

The week of Spring Fair is finally here and we are all looking forward to having lots of fun on Friday. Here are a few last minute reminders of whats on this week.
Spring Fair money – all activities will be accepting only Spring Fair tickets as payment. You can purchase these this week from the Office or on Fair Day from the DPS marquee. External market stalls and food purchases (including meals sold out of the canteen) will take cash.
Flower Shower – don’t forget to make sure you are in the running to win 1 of 3 gift cards when the flowers are dropped on Spring Fair night. Prizes are gift cards to the value of $500, $300 and $200, well worth having a chance. Thanks to JT Dixon Packaging and Kemellies flooring for their generous support for this prize.
Cake Stall – the delicious home made goodies always go super fast at our Fair. Plates went home last Friday with each child. Could you please bring your cakes (labelled with the ingredient list) to the Hall on Friday from 2-3pm. If you would like more than 1 plate please ask at the Office
Casual Dress Day – This Friday is a casual dress day. Please send a gold coin donation.
Volunteers – We really can not run this day without the help of our parent community. Registration for volunteering an hour of your time is done through the link below. Please have a look at the link, find a time and activity that works for you and get on board today, visit http://signup.com/go/OrgyfaF to sign up.

A big thanks to these volunteers for coming to school on Friday afternoon and helping to get our school looking bright and beautiful. Lots of jobs were achieved, including moving a mountain of mulch onto the front garden, (see the before and after pictures attached!) weeding, sweeping, contacting books, cleaning out cupboards, toys and shared spaces across the school. A huge thanks to everyone for being so generous with their time.
