Next Monday is our first Kids Matter Assembly of the year. Kids Matter Assemblies happen during weeks four and eight of each term.  In these assemblies the children sit in their houses and are encouraged to wear their house shirt for the day.  The assemblies focus on different important aspects of being a part of our wonderful Drysdale Primary School community.  Monday’s theme is ‘Parental Engagement’.

2018 Student Leaders

In assembly yesterday we presented our 2018 student leaders with their badges.  I am very positive about the role that these leaders will play in our school this year.  We have a very mature and strong group of children in Year 6.  Whether they are formally designated as a leader or not, we can already see how they are being positive role models for the younger children.

Sunscreen in classrooms

In line with our SunSmart policy, we have installed sunscreen dispensers for students use in classrooms. Ideally, students should already be wearing sunscreen when they arrive at school and should only require this sunscreen for re-application. Students have been instructed not to use the provided sunscreen if they have any allergies or are sensitive to sunscreen. The sunscreen provided is Deb Stokoderm  Sun Protect SPF50+. Details on the ingredients in the sunscreen and the Safety Data Sheet are available here Deb Stokoderm Sun Protect SPF50+

Fresh Fruit Friday

Each week we request parent volunteers from a year level to help cut up fresh fruit and distribute it to classes. This is a great opportunity for students to try fresh fruit which they might otherwise not eat at home. The children also love seeing their parents drop a box of fruit off to their class. If you have time to spare on a Friday morning we would love your help, regardless of what year level your child is in. Younger siblings are more than welcome to join you and play with the toys as long as they remain supervised. Please sign in at the office and make your way to the staff room from 9am.

This Friday, 16th February, we are asking for parent volunteers of Year 1 students to help cut up fruit.

Thank you to the Bendigo Bank for sponsoring our school’s fresh fruit.

As a school we use a great number of tissues every year. In order to ensure we have a sufficient supply of tissues we ask that each student provide a box of tissues to their classroom teacher for use in their class.

Camp Australia

It has been another busy, yet fun week at OSHC. We have been introducing our new children to the service, and they seem to be settling in well so far. Our older and more experienced students have been stepping up within the program, helping out the other students by showing them where things are, and helping them develop and extend themselves by teaching them new games and sports.
