On behalf of the staff of the school may I extend our deep and sincere thanks for the support we have received over the last couple of weeks from our community. In particular I would like to acknowledge the arrangements families made on Friday to allow staff to attend the funeral. As a parent I know that this is far from easy. So many of you went to extraordinary lengths to give us this space. Life in a school moves on. We are keen to ensure that the children continue to receive the highest possible quality of education and care.

Eight of our children in years 3 to 6 represented Drysdale Primary School in the State level Indonesian Speaking competition at Melbourne University on Saturday June 2nd. Two of our children Alannah and Caitlin have been invited to the awards night this coming Friday. This means that they have been placed in the top three in their category. This is an outstanding result for the children and the Indonesian program at this school.
These eight children had qualified from the regional competition held recently at St Ignatius College. The state level final is for the top 50 performers from across the state. The children were accompanied by Bu Henry and Ms Blasco as well as their parents whom I would like to thank for their support.

Starting this week, you will notice a new bell sounding in the yard. At 3.40pm each day a bell will ring out across the school to remind students that teachers are now off yard duty and to come to the office if they haven’t been picked up. Once at the office we will call home and ensure students are collected safely. Parents, please note that if you arrive for pick up from 3.40pm onwards your child will be waiting for you at the front office.

Jack from Prep and his family are doing some amazing work for the Ronald Mac Donald House in Parkville. They are taking part in the ‘Adopt A Room’ project and are fundraising in order to be able to create another room in the house where families with sick kids can call home whilst they are receiving treatment at The Royal Children’s Hospital. This is a cause close to their hearts and we encourage you to support them if you can.
The family are holding a trivia night on Saturday July the 21st from 6.30pm. If you would like to book a table please follow this link: https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=385975

There is not much to report for OSHC this past week, as it has been such a short week between the Queen’s Birthday public holiday and the school being partially closed on Friday due to the funeral of the school business manager, Melanie Burton.
On the days we were at the service it has been a good week, with the afternoons generally being filled with happy, engaged children.
Popular activities this past week have included LEGO, Twister, Draughts, Snakes and Ladders, imaginative play, experimenting with magnets, gymnastics tricks, basketball drills and obstacle course construction. Unfortunately winter has caught up with us, and we had limited opportunities to enjoy outdoor play.
