Arrangements For Friday

Please can I request the support of our community in making arrangements for our students to stay at home this coming Friday.  There will not be any members of the Drysdale Primary School staff in school on Friday as we shall be attending Mel Burton’s funeral.  If you are really unable to make alternative arrangements, and I do understand that this will be necessary for some families, please can you let the office know before Thursday lunchtime.  This is important so that I can arrange for enough teachers from others schools to be here.  Thanks to the generous support of our parent community, the school office will be open for messages and to answer the phone.  Please note that the school canteen will be closed on Friday.

Staff News

I would like to congratulate Joanne Black who has been appointed as the on-going Principal of Oberon South Primary School.  Joanne has been on secondment at Oberon South since the middle of last year.  This is a very well deserved promotion for Joanne.  Joanne has served Drysdale Primary School as one of our Leading Teachers for nearly twenty years.  For three years recently she was also our Assistant Principal.  Joanne was responsible for our Learning Technologies program and established this. I know that Oberon South will benefit greatly from her love of children and her passion for improving educational outcomes for them as we have during her time at Drysdale Primary.

No Smoking

A number of parents have expressed concern about parents smoking whilst waiting outside school to collect their children.  Although these parents are obeying the law by standing further than 4 metres from the school gates, children still need to walk past on their way home and would prefer not to be exposed to cigarette smoke.  Your cooperation would be appreciated.

Year 3 Excursion to Narana

On the 30th of May the Year 3 students went to Narana Creations. They learnt about the life of Australia’s first people to support the Inquiry Big idea ‘Australia has its own geography, people and celebrations that have grown and changed over time’.

Students threw a boomerang, feed some of the Australian native animals, explored artifacts and participated in a dance.

The students then had their lunch at the Torquay play park and had a ball on the timber playground.
