Prep Enrolments 2019

There are plenty of children who have already completed their enrolment forms for Drysdale Primary School for Prep in 2019.  If you have a child who is currently at 4 year old Kinder or who turns six in 2019, now is the time to choose your school.  There will be two open mornings at Drysdale Primary School next week on Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9 am to 10.40 am.  Anyone interested in visiting does not need to book a tour.  Our student leaders will be available to show parents round with the opportunity to meet the Principal team and ask any questions of us that were not answered during the tour.

NAPLAN

The students in Years 3 and 5 started the National Tests today.  Although the outcomes of these tests are important to the school, we are confident that the children have been very well taught and very well supported at home.  As a result we are confident that they will do the best they can whatever that outcome brings.  Our internal assessments and the comparisons we are given of these assessments compared to other schools show that our children receive a high quality education in a positive environment.

Sayembara Lisan

Yesterday in Assembly we celebrated the Drysdale Primary School students who took part in Sayembara Lisan.  This is an Indonesian speaking competition, with our school competing for the first time against schools across the Bellarine and the Surf Coast. This was held at St Ignatius College in Drysdale. Many of our students who participated will now go into the state finals at Melbourne University on the 2nd of June.  This was especially exciting as we introduced Indonesian as our fourth specialist teaching subject just four years ago.  In this time Ingrid Blasco and more recently Bridget Henry have created and taught an Indonesian curriculum to all the students from Prep to Year 6.  It is a credit to their dedication, the student’s ability and the encouragement from parents at home that we had so many children who not only put themselves forward for the competition but then performed so well that they have progressed to the state finals.

With Jade Mackenzie’s win in the national art competition last year and our continuing success at the Geelong Show Art competition, the continuing strength of our sports program and now this recognition in Indonesian it is clear that we are able to offer excellence in a broad range of fields.

Drysdale Primary School Market Coodrinator

Our current Market Coordinator Bre Gage, is stepping back from her role so we are looking for someone to take over this responsibility.  This involves liaising with the stallholders, completing the administration of their bookings and attending the market on the third Sunday of each month between October and May.  The setting up of the market on these Sundays is supported by a School Councillors, staff and parents.  Bre has very kindly agreed to continue her involvement with the market and to provide support for the new coordinator.  If anyone is interested in volunteering to take on this responsibility, please come and talk to me or speak to one of the school’s office staff.

Camp Australia – Holiday Program

We have had discussions with Camp Australia about running a school holiday program during the winter holiday break starting at the end of June.  This has been a gap for many working parents in Drysdale for the last few holidays.  So I am delighted that Camp Australia are going to run this program as a trial, based in the school’s hall during the next school holiday break.  You can find more details about this by following this link:
