Drysdale Primary School Market – Thank you Bre Gage

Sunday May 20th is the last Drysdale Market for this market season.  The market is held each month between October and May and has been organised by the Drysdale Primary School Council since it began nearly forty years ago.  This market is also the last market that Bre Gage will be coordinating. Bre has filled the voluntary role of market coordinator for the last couple of years.  Bre has done a wonderful job of managing the stall holder bookings and completing the administration on behalf of the School Council.  As market coordinator Bre has also reviewed and improved these processes to make it much easier for stall holders to be a part of this great community event.  I would like to thank Bre hugely for the time and effort she has devoted to the market.  She has been a very approachable and efficient person to work with.

The students will work through an Inquiry process that supports them in becoming the leaders of their learning.

Year 4 Inquiry

This term Year 4 students are learning about the Big Idea ‘Forces, weather and human activity all affect Earth’s surface and our daily lives.’ These images show the students taking part in the ‘Tuning In / Engage’ phase of the Inquiry cycle, whereby students are exposed to a range of exciting provocations linked to the unit. Students then develop wonderings and questions which will help to guide their thinking as the inquiry continues. It’s great to see students so engaged in learning in Year 4! Sayembara Lisan

On Wednesday, the 2nd of May, 19 students represented Drysdale Primary School in Sayembara Lisan at Saint Ignatius College. Saymebara Lisan is an Indonesian speaking competition for primary and secondary students, who study Indonesian as a second language. Bu Henry was very impressed to see all the students were able to confidently have a conversation in Indonesian and recite a song, poem or short story to their assessor. It was terrific to see them trying their hardest and congratulations to the following students who competed against other students in the Geelong region: Caitlain, Dimitri, Alahna, Tahlia, Vianne, Salem, Macey, Lily, Paige, William, Marley, Dom, Mia, Isabella, Hayden, Angus, Ashlea and Curtis.

Fresh Fruit Friday

Each week we request parent volunteers from a year level to help cut up fresh fruit and distribute it to classes. If you have time to spare on a Friday morning we would love your help, regardless of what year level your child is in. Younger siblings are more than welcome to join you and play with the toys as long as they remain supervised. Please sign in at the office and make your way to the staff room from 9am.

This Friday, 11th May, we are asking for parent volunteers of Year 3 students to help cut up fruit.

Thank you to the Bendigo Bank for sponsoring our school’s fresh fruit.
