Thank you for coming to the Family Dance Night and for the very positive feedback I have had about the changes we made. Holding it outside was obviously a winner and was possible because we had invested some of our fundraising in an outdoor sound system which we can also use at other events such as The Colour Run next week and Spring Fair. Dance Night has been a part of the school for a long time and is a great opportunity at the beginning of the year for families to reconnect after the summer break. So it was brilliant to see so many families here enjoying each other’s company. I would like to thank Kethly Hemsworth for masterminding the event, Blanche Denmead and Felicity Stark for making sure everything was in the right place at the right time, the Parent Fundraising Group for coordinating volunteers, selling accessories and setting up and packing up, the staff for providing the sausage sizzle and the Canteen staff (and helpers) for remaining open after a full day to serve drinks, coffees, ice creams and icy poles. Click Read More to view a gallery of the night. A very special thank-you also goes to Coles Drysdale for their generous sponsorship of our BBQ and Springdale $2. Thanks to their generosity we were able to raise a total of $1,783.45 on the night.

On March 26th and March 27th students are invited to lead a discussion with their parents and their teacher about the work they have been doing and the progress they have been making towards their learning goals. These Student Led Conferences replace the parent teacher interviews. Bookings are now open on the Parent Portal, Sentral.
As the title suggests this will be an opportunity for each of our students to demonstrate greater ownership of their learning.
Increasing student leadership, students’ self-awareness and improving self-confidence while offering parents a greater involvement in their children’s education, are all important goals at this stage of Drysdale Primary School’s development as an outstanding school.

If your child has been coming home passionately talking to you about inquiry learning, excursions, big ideas and wonder walls but you have no idea what they are talking about then this is the session for you! At 3.45pm on Tuesday 20th March Felicity Stark (Assistant Principal) will run an information session on Inquiry Learning, giving you an understanding of the approach we take to the teaching of subject areas outside English and Mathematics. The session will be held in the new prep space, with some toys out to keep the little ones occupied whilst we chat. Anyone is welcome, hope to see you there.

This Friday the 16th of March is the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.
As a school we have committed to this day and are standing together with schools across the country. The students of DPS will be involved in conversations and activities that explore social and emotional interactions as we reinforce the importance of prevention, and educate our students around their actions and choices. We will also be linking our work to our school values, particularly that of Acceptance and Integrity.
For information on how you can support this action please explore the recommended actions for parents:
