Drysdale Primary School is committed to planning and implementing a curriculum (outside the core subjects of English and Mathematics) that uses an Inquiry approach incorporating the E5 and Kath Murdoch models. Inquiry learning is a way of teaching our Victorian Curriculum which encourages the children to engage, question and explore the world around them. The students will work through an Inquiry process that supports them in becoming the leaders of their learning.

The DPS staff had two jam packed days of professional development prior to the students returning to school. The first day involved all staff completing their training in Asthma management and CPR. We would like to acknowledge Raelene Newton from Stayin’ Alive for her work with training over 40 staff in one day! Teaching staff were also involved in discussion around our Annual Implementation Plan and our goals as a whole school.
On the second day we worked with educational consultant, Virginnia Gilham. Exploring the detailed elements of reading writing lessons and how to maximise opportunities for goal setting and providing feedback to students were all part of the day. Year level teams read and analysed research around best practice in literacy whilst considering texts and tasks that continue to engage and motivate students.

We would appreciate any parents who some spare time to unpack books in the library over the coming week. Stop in at the office if you would like more details.
Thank you also to Kate Lockhart, Rachel Shanks and Anna Richardson who volunteered their time last Tuesday to get the school looking nice and clean.

Please ensure all items of clothing and all tubs, drink bottles and lunch boxes that students bring to school are labelled. This makes it much easier to return items if they are misplaced in the school.
