School Council

As we come towards the end of the school year, I would like to acknowledge the work of our School Council and thank them for the time and dedication they devote to support the school. This has been a particularly busy year for Council with the building work and a School Review. Two thirds of the council is made up of parent representatives with the other third represented by staff. Together the council oversees the school’s finances, the strategic direction we take and has overall responsibility for fundraising. As part of its fundraising commitment the council provides the volunteers at the monthly Drysdale Market. We are very fortunate to have a team of parents and staff who have the interest and commitment to spend time working with our leadership team to make our school an even better place for your children to be educated.

Christmas Cards

Many children like to give Christmas cards to their friends at school. Some children like to hand these over in person while others prefer to have them delivered to their classroom. For children who like to “post” their cards, there is a post box in the school foyer. This will be emptied daily by our wonderful Year 6 students and then delivered to classrooms. As we are a large school with quite a few children with the same first name, please can I remind you that cards need to be addressed on the envelope by name and class.

Early Arrivals

I have noticed that there are a lot of children arriving very early before school. Please can I remind everyone that the school does not take responsibility for children before 8:50am. This is the time set by the state’s Education Department rather than a local school decision. Equally our contractual responsibility for the children finishes at 3:40 pm. Children who are at school outside these times are not supervised by school staff. If children need to be dropped at school before 8:50am or collected after 3:40pm they should be booked into Camp Australia who provide our before and after school care service from 7:00am until 6:00pm.

Drysdale Community Market

Did you know that the Drysdale Community Market is run by our school and is our major fundraiser raising more than $20,000 for the school per year? You know that wonderful blue climbing web behind the Year 1 and 2 building? It was paid for from Market funds! The magnificent new Prep playground? The past 3 seasons of market funds were contributed to the overall cost of the upgrade.

Fresh Fruit – Parent Volunteers from Year 5

Even though we request parent volunteers from a year level each week, if you have time to spare on a Friday morning we would love your help. We have a couple of parents who volunteer every Friday that would love some help.

This Friday, 8th December, we are asking for parent volunteers of Year 5 students to help cut up fruit. If you can assist, please sign in at the office and come to the staff room at 9am.

Thank you to the Bendigo Bank for sponsoring our school’s fresh fruit.
