Spring Fair  –  Thank You

What an amazing Spring Fair last Friday. I would like to make a special thank you to the organising group who worked throughout the year to create the Fair. Led by Andrea Nisbet and her wonderful team Kylie Atkinson, Melissa Butler, Dani MacDonald, Felicity Stark, Mel Burton, Vic Miller and Mel Larcombe our Spring Fair mixed some favourite events and activities with some new ideas. There was such a happy atmosphere with so many people staying right to the end enjoying each other’s company, some great music and the various market stalls. The children seemed to enjoy the Haunted House and the Pie Throwing particularly.

The Spring Fair could not happen without a strong and positive response from our parent and staff community who donated so much time to run the stalls and events. Big thanks to Ben Atkinson, James Burton, Martyn East and Tara Wearne who, along with the committee spent the whole day setting up and packing up.

We are also indebted to the businesses and individuals who donated prizes or gave up their time to help with the setting up or clean up. There was a lot of excitement at the end of the Fair with the Flower Shower, everyone was watching and hoping to win the $1,000 gift card donated by JDM Electrics. The two signed football tops were expertly auctioned by our friends from Ray White Real Estate.

We would invite you all to come to assembly on Monday 27th November where we will formally thank all of our helpers and announce our fundraising total.

Please also keep an eye out for a Spring Fair survey which will be coming home soon.

Drysdale Primary School 2018 Parents Group

We are very thankful for all of the parent involvement in our parent groups throughout the year and can’t thank everyone enough for their involvement in these committees. As we look to 2018 we will be introducing a new Drysdale Primary School Parents Group which will incorporate all elements of parent involvement, bringing a fresh and exciting approach to the involvement of parents and families at Drysdale Primary School. Our aim is to have many hands making light work. This group will oversee all of the school events, including Spring Fair, Colour Run, Family Dance Night etc. We plan to have a minimum of two representatives from each year level to engage the parent community. This group will meet on a regular basis outside of school hours at various locations, with the aim of also adding a social element to the group. If you are keen to be a representative and get involved with the 2018 committee or would like to find out more information on the group please contact Tara Wearne via the office.

Fresh Fruit – Parent Volunteers from Year 4

Even though we request parent volunteers from a year level each week, if you have time to spare on a Friday morning we would love your help. We have a couple of parents who volunteer every Friday that would love some help.

This Friday, 17th November, we are asking for parent volunteers of Year 4 students to help cut up fruit. If you can assist, please sign in at the office and come to the staff room at 9am.

Thank you to the Bendigo Bank for sponsoring our school’s fresh fruit.

Camp Australia

It’s been another action packed week at OSHC this past week. The most popular activity was, once again, the straws and connectors, with children working in groups in order to build lots of different things. Other popular options have been dramatic and imaginative play, cricket and basketball skill based games, making tents out of old manilla folders, perler bead craft, playing chess, and our movie night on Friday. The children also spent a lot of time watching the events of the Spring Fair, discussing what they wanted to do when they got the chance to go.
