Classes for 2018

Yesterday we sent home a “Hand” on which we are inviting you to identify five students from your child’s year group that you would be happy to be with them in the same class next year.

Our aim is to organise the classes for next year so that each child is with at least one of these five other children. We also aim to create strong working groups which will also take into account academic abilities, a balance of boys and girls and combinations that we know go well together.

Please can the “Hand” be returned to your child’s current teacher at school by the end of this week. Don’t forget to put your child’s name on this. The information you put on your “Hand” will not be shared with other parents or children. Children who have not returned their hand by the end of this Friday will be asked to complete this in school early next week.

Maker Space

Year Ones had a ball attending the Maker Space at lunchtimes on a Tuesday last term. Kids completed different problem solving activities including making a marble maze out of different materials, creating the tallest tower with only 6 blocks touching the ground, and making a chair that holds the weight of a toy. Kids went further with their original idea by persisting to make their creation better after they completed their first attempt. Students had lots of fun going through the process of designing, creating and improving. Some of the Year Twos have taken up the challenge of trying to fix measuring scales that were going to get thrown away. This term Year Twos and Threes will be looking at making vehicles that move out of recyclable materials.

Fresh Fruit Friday – Parent Volunteers From Year 2

Even though we request parent volunteers from a year level each week, if you have time to spare on a Friday morning we would love your help. We have a couple of parents who volunteer every Friday that would love some help.

This Friday, 27th October, we are asking for parent volunteers of Year 2 students to help cut up fruit. If you can assist, please sign in at the office and come to the staff room at 9am.

Thank you to the Bendigo Bank for sponsoring our school’s fresh fruit.
