Drysdale Primary School

Senior School House Sports

Last Wednesday our senior students went to Landy Field to compete in our annual house sports. It was an excellent day superbly organised by Mr Kennedy. The children represented themselves, their house and the school with distinction as we have come to expect of them. Overall the House Shield for 2017 was won by McLeod House with Davis second. I would like to thank the parents, staff and children who provided such dedicated support in so many different roles. Without this commitment from our community, we would simply be unable to run an event on this scale. The winners of the different events will now progress to the Divisional competition later this term.

South Western Region Girls T Ball Final

Congratulations to our girls T Ball team who represented us in the South Western Regional Competition yesterday. This is one level below the state final. Our girls performed magnificently to be runners up, narrowly losing in the grand final. This is an outstanding achievement. My thanks to Mrs Croxford for looking after the girls and coaching them throughout the season. I would also like to acknowledge the support from a group of parents who helped with transport, supervision and encouragement. This result continues a long tradition of success in this sport.

There continues to be some issues with parking in the Stonehouse Place area before and after school. The good news is that our building work at the front of the school is coming to an end which will allow the staff car park there to be reopened. Please can I remind parents that driving across the Wautharong reserve is neither permitted nor safe. Parking inspectors do regularly patrol this area and must be due for another visit shortly.

parent survey

Parent Opinion Survey

This year’s Parent Opinion Survey is now available to the parents who were randomly selected to participate. If you were one of these parents you will have received an e-mail from the school last week with details of how to access the survey. I would strongly encourage you to participate as both the school and the Department take the results very seriously. If you have more than one child at the school and you are not sure how best to respond to a question because their experience is different, may I suggest you respond based on what has been your usual experience over the whole time your children have been at Drysdale Primary School.

Camp Payments for Years 3 to 6

We have recently sent out letters to parents of children in Years 3 to 6 who have paid a deposit for a place at their child’s camp. Details of the amounts due for final payment were included in these letters. Parents are able to pay through any of the usual methods including BPay. If you chose to pay through BPay the number you use for other payments to school applies for camp payments as this is your individual number.

Fresh Fruit – Volunteers Required Year 2 Families

We request parent volunteers from each year level each week to assist with cutting the fruit and delivering the fruit to the classrooms.

We have a couple of parents who volunteer every Friday that would love some help.

This Friday 11th August we are asking for parent volunteers of Year 2 students to help cut up fruit. If you can assist, please sign in at the office and come to the staff room at 9am.

Thank you to the Bendigo Bank for sponsoring our school’s fresh fruit.

Camp Australia

It has been yet another action packed week at OSHC at Drysdale.

Poison ball has been a very popular choice at before school care, with the majority of children taking part in games on most days. The children have also been developing their imagination and creativity by engaging in imaginative and dramatic play centred around life under the sea, dinosaurs, and the running of a printing shop.
